    Several people have asked, but I don't think anyone has answered: do you need to change the water?  If so, how often?  Just when it gets stinky?

    Maybe I'll try putting two lots of cuttings from the same plant into water, change one and not the other, and see if it makes any difference.

    I top it up but don't change it.  It works for me.

    I don’t, if they’re going to root they would have done so by that stage.

    I top it up and change it if it gets a bit too cloudy. I wouldn't let it get stinky though.
    I put all different plants in a glass on the kitchen window sill and throw out the ones that are doing nothing after a while. That may be the wrong thing to do. I don't know.
    It'll be interesting to see how your experiment goes.

    Does anyone have experience of doing this with azalea cuttings?
