Plants that root in water

    Really interesting thread :)
I've started experimenting with those water-holding beads (this is not a euphemism btw). We bought them originally to see if we could grow small plants in teacups for my daughter's wedding, but they look like a medium that you could root stuff in.
First attempt: I had some Montana already in water that I tried adding the beads to and they keeled over almost instantly.
Attempt 2, this time with easy-strike plants: a few helichrysum and plectranthus clippings. These have only been in a few days but are still looking perky so I'm quite hopeful.
I have no idea if the beads offer any advantage over just water (they do at least hold the cuttings in place), or indeed, any disadvantages, but in the name of science and all that...

I wonder if it would work for ordinary coriander. It would save me a fortune in supermarket pots!

It's odd but the Jasmine in water (about 6 weeks now) continue to grow new leaves but no roots.  It's quite healthy looking  and tempted to stick it in the ground!

My coriander seed germinated in a week. Not what the threads about though 😀

I'm sure we can expand the scope of the thread for quick germinators (sp?) @Lyn

I think I may finally have roots showing from a clematis (Francis Rivis)  ... been in water 4 or 5 weeks.

    Your patience has been rewarded!
Perhaps I should've been more patient. I threw a load of mine out the other day.

I only kept them as the leaves have stayed alive the whole time. That gave me some hope but I was beginning to think it was never gonna happen.
