Top left - one of the Penstemon firebird cuttings that rooted in water after months of sitting there, been potted for several weeks now and growing nicely from the base. Top right - hebe Caledonia - also a water one
then I’ve got some more in water justness put in this week - two types of hebe, Penstemon Raven, an day accidental clematis stem that I think I is dying and I took a new stem off a rose to see if that does anything! 🤞🏻
Patience with penstemon seems to be the order of the day. I'm regretting binning mine. Will have another go and I might even label them this time! Does anyone know whether the ones with what look like adventitious roots are more likely to be successful?

B, those that come with ready-made roots, I don't bother with water; I just stick them in some gritty compost and I find that they, usually, oblige.
Some roots, called adventitious roots, arise from an organ other than the root—usually a stem, sometimes a leaf. They are especially numerous on underground stems, such as rhizomes, corms, and tubers, and make it possible to vegetatively propagate many plants from stem or leaf cuttings.25 Mar 2020
Gaura Lindheimeri Sparkle White - these went in about three weeks ago I think.they snapped off while I was planting a new one from a Secret Gardening Club order. So three extra plants for free!
I've really enjoyed ready through this thread and I'm now inspired to give it a go myself. Does anyone here have success rooting ornamental elder in water? I've tried propagating in compost but they just keeled over so hopefully water might be more successful.
