Top left - one of the Penstemon firebird cuttings that rooted in water after months of sitting there, been potted for several weeks now and growing nicely from the base.
Top right - hebe Caledonia - also a water one

then I’ve got some more in water justness put in this week - two types of hebe, Penstemon Raven, an day accidental clematis stem that I think I is dying and I took a new stem off a rose to see if that does anything! 🤞🏻

Patience with penstemon seems to be the order of the day. I'm regretting binning mine. Will have another go and I might even label them this time!
Does anyone know whether the ones with what look like adventitious roots are more likely to be successful?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Garlic in water- no idea what I should do next!

That's what they looked like on March the 11th.

And this is what they look like today.  Amazing!  From now on I shall always follow this method!

B, those that come with ready-made roots, I don't bother with water; I just stick them in some gritty compost and I find that they, usually, oblige.

Some roots, called adventitious roots, arise from an organ other than the root—usually a stem, sometimes a leaf. They are especially numerous on underground stems, such as rhizomes, corms, and tubers, and make it possible to vegetatively propagate many plants from stem or leaf cuttings.25 Mar 2020

Found 4 turn of the century morning glory seeds. 100% germination. No idea where I'll put them if they  continue to grow😕

Gaura Lindheimeri Sparkle White - these went in about three weeks ago I think.they snapped off while I was planting a new one from a Secret Gardening Club order. So three extra plants for free!

    Must freshen the water up!

I've really enjoyed ready through this thread and I'm now inspired to give it a go myself. Does anyone here have success rooting ornamental elder in water? I've tried propagating in compost but they just keeled over so hopefully water might be more successful.
