    Thanks for the links @Helen P3.  I might sprinkle in the spring.
    @Stevedaylilly what about watercress?😉

    Split them up and get them outside in the ground ASAP.

    I'd agree with Hexagon, Danae.  Next spring you could, perhaps, show us their progress?

    I followed Hexagon's advice and planted them out.  Here is an update on their progress, especially for Sam!  ;)

    That's what they look like today.  Something has eaten one of them!   :(

    Pretty good!  I hope their bulbs will be of a decent size too.

    I know Rosemary does. I had a couple of stems in water in my kitchen as they can repel flies in the summer. They rooted in the water they were stood in. I planted them in an unused corner of my garden and they are massive now

    Mint apparently does the same and is likely to root too

    Danae, I fear I shall never share my bok choi with you; the garden nasties have already shared it among themselves!  I made the mistake of putting it outside!

    This is how it looks today  :(

    I'm rather excited!  A few days ago, when I was going through the seeds I have in my fridge (in order to see what I actually had and what I needed to get), I found an old envelope with a few coriander seeds.  It said, "Sow by 2016".

    I couldn't quite throw them out (I'm a real scrooge), so I used an old supermarket plastic container with lid (I don't throw those out either!), lined it with a moist kitchen towel, placed the seeds on the wet towel, closed the lid and put it in a warm spot in the kitchen.

    Today, I discovered that 4 of the seed had grown little thin tails!  I have now put them in a small flower pot with multipurpose compost.

    I hope at least one of them survives and gives me some ...amazing coriander!  I will then be certain that it pays to be a scrooge!

    Those four seeds now.  Better than throwing them out, I think.

    Not plants that root in water, but finished supermarket  herbs left outside to fend for themselves and survived. Will give them a little TLC
