@B3. Easy to germinate, I sow some every year then the older woody ones can just be binned. They don’t take long, don’t get them too wet though, I never water seeds, just sow and spray.

Geranium Dreamland, geranium Orkney Cherry and Basil (unknown variety, dark leaves) - what do you think, will they root in water? Or will they root in soil, or will they root at all? I have a few cuttings there but am I too optimistic?
When I root any cuttings in water they need to be cut down about 5” tall, all flowers removed, all bottom leaves removed so they are no in the water, even better choose non flowering shoots. Put them in a small wine glass, I use vitamins pots, pick out the tops. 3 have rooted ones a bit slow but will.

Thank you @Lyn your cuttings look very healthy. I will wait for the flowers to die off and will trim the cuttings (I really like them so couldn’t cut them off 😊 ) I’m just worried that hardy cranesbills just don’t propagate by cuttings, but rather by division.

I've recently taken loads of cuttings from a mature hardy geranium that was in the wrong place, just poked them into pots of garden soil, watered them once and left them outdoors. At first the leaves all drooped and they looked hopeless. But in a couple of weeks they were all growing away well. Now I'm wondering what to do with them all.
I bought four tomato plants this year.Black cherry, tigrella, green Zebra and a grafted blackRussian . Couldn't throw away the new leaves which your supposed to remove.so I put them in water.after a few weeks they had a mass of roots.replanted these up and they all produced fruit of the same variety. Eventually had 24 extra plants! They are still producing fruit but at a slower rate.I'm bringing them indoors now as the weather changes.
You've all got me excited ! I'm going to play too and try clematis armandii as I've tried layering and also rooting in soil to no avail. I have successfully rooted fuchsia which roots all along the stems and penstemons in water so am eager to try some others. I think Ill try potentila frustuosa too as one of mine died as it was too overcrowded!
