Probably not, Fairy... magnificent photos, by the way! Glad you got to see some of the views, at least.
It's warm but very grey here. Fingers crossed the met office forecast is right (less than 5% risk of rain all day) because we've started painting the intricate metal ends and back panel of the garden bench. So far it's just a test piece (the inside of a back leg) to see if the new paint reacts with the remaining old stuff - hopefully it'll be ok and we can crack on with the job. All the woodwork is finished, so once the metal has had 2 coats we can assemble it all. And perhaps even sit on it!
Hope you get the packing sorted, LilyP, and enjoy your hols. Chicky, are your walking boots well broken in??
Best wishes for a happy B.Hol (south of the border) or Monday (north...)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Looking at the finish Hosta - they'll certainly need £4, 500 a week to recoup the cost!
Must need a lot of redecorating - all those pale surfaces...that could be a good, permanent gig for your hubby
Don't think your employers are much better that the bunch my eldest works for. At least she gets paid for all the extras, but it does make you wonder.
I've put washing out - am I being too optimistic? Mostly lightweight walking stuff, so with a bit of luck, and an hour of breezy stuff, it might be ok.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hosta, I've been thinking about your pool. How about tying string around a jam jar and dragging it through the water. You might be able to see some unexpected insects. I'm rather curious.
Im sagging this afternoon, so not much conversation, sorry. Maybe tomorrow.
Morning Hosta I showed OH the Yellow Cottage ... he says he prefers the place we go to (thank goodness)
Getting excited now ... OH is giving the house a quick going over and checking the fridges for stuff likely to putrify while we're away. Supper will be macaroni cheese with bacon and tomatoes to use up bacon, cheese and cream and to make small inroads on the tomato harvest ... never had so many!!!
I'm making lists, charging up Satnav and checking route etc.
Fairy ... love the photos
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Seriously - I think you need a trip up here at some point.
Putrifying food
Hosta - don't get me started on folk who can't drive on narrow, glen roads. I think that's something else that needs to be introduced to the driving test - if only to teach basic manners
Where I was staying is on the North Coast 500 route, which wasn't intentional when I booked. It's something I really fancy doing though, and we were talking about it at work recently. There were lots of people doing it - often in convoys in little Fiats or Seat/Fiat Abarths, and of course - the posers in open top cars and the tattooed bikers
Most of them were driving well, but it's easy to spot the ones who aren't used to narrow, undulating roads with blind bends, random sheep and coos
The infrastructure is getting there, and it's vital to attract those doing it. Double edged sword for many people living there, but it's a two way street - if you'll pardon the choice of phrase

Fairy, the location is second to none and by about 6pm it's practically deserted so they have the bay to themselves.
I did have some hairy , lanes so narrow I was scraping both wing mirrors, lots of careful reversing etc.
I pulled over to pass a big camper van as I was leaving Boscastle. The driver just sat there , oblivious to the massive tailback behind him.
I pulled alongside another campervan and said to the beautiful young couple inside.
" Typical man. It's not as big as he thinks it is"

Dove, have you been to Trebarwith Strand?
We do a little route from Bude, Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Tintagel and end up at the rather good pub in TS when we have visitors.
Long time ago Hosta ... when we stayed near Tintagel
Lovely place

Tintagel was RAMMED when I delivered there yesterday.
