Never liked them Liri so have never grown them.  Not keen on green beans either.   Like pulses tho and mangetouts.

Haven't cut our grass since mid June.  It's brown and dry tho one or two green bits are appearing now after a recent dribble of rain.    The only things in it 6" high are weeds with tiny yellow flowers.

We don't do brown grass here in west Yorks, Obs.  It's never dry for long enough in my garden...

I've just read back to the beginning of August.  So sorry for your tenant troubles, Hosta - hope the next lot are just perfect.  There are plenty of careful, respectful folk about, wanting to rent.  We have a tiny house in the town here, which we've rented to a very young couple for the past 5 years, and they've been perfect tenants.  They are now in the process of buying their first house so we too are trying to find another couple who are as thoughtful and sensible.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Anyone got any tips on freezing runner beans please?   Last year I had loads and froze them straight from the allotment.   They were disgusting when we used them over the winter.  They had kept their colour but were tasteless.

This year, I am going to have loads again and would like to freeze them but don't want to end up throwing them away.  Will blanching make that much difference to the taste?

PM.....we had a similar experience ......I believe the main reason was not getting all the air out of the plastic bags allowing ice crystals to form ...... if you do have to freeze these are good instructions ..

Dacha ... I hope your wife's back eases soon. It reminds me that five years ago to the day I did exactly the same thing ... Just before my daughter Wonky's wedding ... the mother of the bride was doped up on cocodamol and champagne image If you're looking in Wonky ... Happy Anniversary!!! image

Morning everyone. We are still cold, but it's sunny which helps my mood. The expected snow didn't arrive, but we did get 4 mm rain - very gratefully accepted. The prediction for the weekend is widespread snow falls in the south east of the continent, so it might reach over the ranges to us. Half a metre expected in the ski fields.

Sorry to hear about your wife's back Dacha. Welcome back Liri. Happy anniversary Wonky. Best wishes to all I've missed.

snug in front of heater now.

Obelixx, would it not be quicker to hang wallpaper and emulsion it in order to rid yourself of the previous decor?
