Thar CBFW is seriously cool, Flinster, can see it giant size in a horror flick! Gorgeous photo of that bee, Bob.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Lovely photos folks.  Haven't got a piccie to post but do feel rather virtuous today after feeding a very cold and lifeless looking bee some sugar water and watching it fly off a few minutes later.

Came across this moth today, don’t know which variety but interesting looking thing!
It's one of the noctids, maybe a mullein. I'll have to get the book out later and have a look. That weevil is really interesting though. I've never heard of fungus weevils.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Day off today, so was in the garden and noticed a male Orange tip fluttering around:
How lucky! They are my favourite early butterflies, those orange tips! I used to see (and take pics) of lots of them out in the fields some years ago, but they have become rare. So I was quite surprised to see one fluttering about in my garden yesterday. Rushed to get my camera and take a pic, as it was sitting on my clematis 'early sensation'. Not a great shot, but couldn't get any closer.

They are tricky to frame - very fluttery butterflies!  I noticed one was flying all around the garden in circles but kept returning to patches of aubretia, so I decided to wait at the aubretia, camera poised ready!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Love orange tips too. Had a few lovely speckled woods fluttering around here this morning

A tiny blue butterfly made a brief appearance in the garden but didn't stop for me to ID it. Holly Blue seems like the most likely suspect

I also noticed a diminutive bee repeatedly landing on a certain section of a fence. It wouldn't let me get close so I've no idea what it could have been.

Yep! Nice shot. They come in white or yellow.
