  • I was digging yesterday, trying to improve some horrible soil full of builders' rubble, when I dug up a couple of bees. I guess this is a miner bee? I feel bad now I've messed up their hibernation plans 😞, hope they'll be ok. I know it's sideways but the fact my phone actually agreed to upload was too much of a miracle to start tampering!

An old photo but I looked at it again today after spotting this insect.

This was the original photo of sea holly on a Sicilian beach.

    Can anyone identify my butterfly/moth?

Hard to say from underneath.  Definitely a moth could be Buff Ermine
  • Hi all, on vine weevil hunting last night I found this caterpillar, I think it could be a mullein caterpillar? Sorry the photo is not great. I could only seem to see one of them so should I move it somewhere else to save the plant or just let it be happy where it is ?

    Thank you

It's a sawflylarva but not certain which.

I saw this blog on slugs today which might be of interest to anyone who wants to read a blog about slugs. It's certainly a novel type of pest control.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
