I nearly didnt watch Ffearless because I thought it was going to be an American series, dowloaded and watched episode 1 the other day, well that was it, hooked not seen today yet, slept really badly, fell asleep on the sofa, (its recording!) So, with all this talk about men versus woman, what does everyone think of the fact we are now going to have a "woman" Dr Who, I did read speculation a few months back that it was going to be Olivia Colman, I like her.
Punkdoc, my Hubby says his half is the decorating,DIY, gardening, heavy stuff digging, rotivating, heavy prunning, maintaining the cars, course I have retired now. I was surprised when on another forum (no-where near as polite as this one) women who dont go out to work, still expect their husbnds to do 50% of household chores, which I think is strange, I hate the expression full time mum.
I dont know whether some of the folk on here are male or female.
Pdoc - don't be such a delicate flower. Just try and be fair wherever you are, whatever you're doing and whomever you are with. Manners maketh both man and woman so yes to holding doors and not waiting to be asked to help around the house especially when both are tired or busy.
University Challenge was good tonight. Close result. Just been watching John Torode on Korea. Lovely looking food and recipes but might have a bit of bovver finding bean curd here. I foresee a raid on the Vietnamese shop in La Roche.
News on the extension of HS2 is interesting. I know you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs but it seems to me they could be doing a lot more to inform and help the people in its path. Basic PR to reduce backlash and protests let alone basic courtesy and common sense.
Lovely photo FG. Never seen one of those in the flesh. Thanks.

Nanny , I don't believe it will be Olivia , I think it will be Jodie Whittaker which for me is freaking great .....I always wanted Billie Piper to be the Doctor
theyve said it'll be Jodie Whittacker (sp?) ... We didn't watch Broadchurch do don't recall her, but only occasionally have I felt that they'd cast the role wrong. Looking forward to it ...
But just for now it's R4 and a new Book at Bedtime so ..... Night night folks - see you in the morning ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Maybe it's just me who really doesn't care who the new Dr Who is , male / female, black / white, gay / straight. Isn't it just the sort of programme slightly weird geeky types watch?
Very much enjoyed Fearless. Worth staying up late for.
Dacha, I can't speak for anyone else, but we've not seen the American series. I tend to avoid them as they seem to drag stuff out for many more episodes than needed. Maybe that's just me.
I can manage a series of 6 episodes, but any more is often too much of a commitment.
Bad news time. That fabulous double, pillar box red, water lily Hubby bought at the weekend has flowered, and it's a single pink. I'll call them tomorrow but can't take it back before Wednesday and the flower might not last that long. I wonder if they'll accept a photo??
Hosta, sad about the colour being wrong. fairy, love the little bird. Chicky, since you are usually up early, I expect you'll find time for a few minutes catch up with chicklet at that time. They are getting wind and rain over there today. Pity we haven't had rain for weeks except for half a mil overnight last night.
ive taken my little old Mazda into town this morning for a rego check plus a service. I received a letter from Mazda advising there could be a problem with a part in the car which they would fix free of charge, but that I'd have to take it to Canberra for it to be fixed/replaced. After a phone conversation with them about my age and not driving my 1993 model little car all that way, we have come to a stalemate. I've put the problem back to my mechanic to try to sort out.
I had to drive through a very heavy rain/hail/sleet type of thing on the way into town - Wipers and headlights on and then another few kms further, bright sun. Very cold!
My MSG epispde yesterday is easing a bit, but I've still some residual discomfort. I'm trying to decide whether to put up with it or take more painkillers.
Dacha, please don't leave our site. It's good to have people from different areas to chat to. We all have different ways of looking at things.
Catch you all later, when the early risers are up and about.

may I be so bold as to ask if you guys have seen The Americans series?

My OH loves sitting and walking round our garden, occasionally passing comments.
She virtually never does anything though.
I don't regard it as a chore, it is my passion, but does it count in the division of tasks?

Punkdoc - yes, of course; just because you enjoy gardening doesn't mean it's not part of your share of "necessary jobs".
Unless we're going to "weight" the chores on the basis of how much we hate doing them...

I've caught up reading back at last.

Morning Pat.
Hope you are now warmed up by the wood burner and feeling better.
Morning Hosta if you are around.
