Traffic chaos - Chatsworth!!

  • Had a fab time at Chatsworth today. No problems on roads, no problems getting on or off car park. Staff very obliging-helping with wheelchairs and buggies where muddy. Where it was muddy, every effort had been made with bark/plastic pathways to cover it up, and there was plenty of space to move around, even though it was busy Would have liked more plant stalls, but there was a good variety and some of them had reasonable prices too. Plenty of places to sit/have a picnic, and there was a good variety of food(but we did take our own 'posh picnic'). Will be going again next year. I think that probably the weather played a big part in the problems early on.image

I had no problems getting to the show either! Great but tiring day :) got to Bakewell around 8:50, and was in the show ground before 10:00.

1 of my main problems was in the middle of the afternoon when there were sizable ques to cross the bridges.

  • Hello Elia. We arrived at 10:15, didn't take us 5 minutes to walk in, but there are a lot of car parks. Yes Tom, we had to wait a bit to get across the bridge!

  • Hi All

Heavy rain just now in Derbyshire - though it's set to clear up a bit later.

My advice - AVOID THE CARPARKS.

Ideal scenario would be - Bus to Baslow, from somewhere fairly local where you can park, then walk it.

You can access the park via a footpath near bus stop at Goose Green.  It's signposted Chatsworth.

Go over the bridge and follow the path to the right.

It's a 1 mile walk - give or take - it's level easy walking, and it took me about 30 mins max walking slowly.

If you do this you avoid the carparks, and take the shuttle buses out of the equation also.

If you are going to use the shuttle buses, give yourself plenty of time to make connections, they are affected by the traffic also, and by the number of people wishing to use them.

    Oh and keep smiling!

    Steph xxxx
