I saw a couple of black labs being fed ice cream outside the blow up paxton conservatory. I think taking dogs into the crowded areas would be silly. Assistance dogs are generally used to crowded places. Most other dogs could find it a bit worrying, get panicky, and could get trodden underfoot. Anyhow , I have yet to find a dog interested in flower displays.

My dog is used to crowds, doesn't like ice-cream, and loves gardening - she often helps me dig, and she loves sitting in my greenhouse and enjoying the view.
This is what her face did when I told her she was coming to Chatworth with me.
Yesterday, she particularly enjoyed Martin Fish's talk on growing fruit and veg in containers, and she joined in in the applause at the end (in her own woof woof type of way).
Things were not perfect, how could they be, with the show being held for the first time and the weather having a major affect, especially on parking, which delayed people getting in.
I thought it was a great show, some will disagree, but people feel the same about Chelsea.
I think in time, this could become the main RHS show.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Well i for one think it's a great idea. My Annabel always goes to Chatsworth with me and has been in all the gardens there. I'm glad she'll be with me tomorrow!

And no, I am not in the pay of the RHS, or Chatsworth.
I do live in Derbyshire though, and yes, it started raining again last night.
It's not torrential though, and the wind has stopped, and it's not cold.
Dress appropriately, and don't forget, it's the rain makes our gardens grow!

I think dogs at shows ( unless it's a dog show ) and being allowed into RHS gardens is the worst idea imaginable.

I dont think dogs are a good idea in an exhibition situation like this.
The bad weather we are having has had a big effect on the easy use of the site. There is little we can do about that.
The roads in that area are very restricted. Tatton Park is very near the A50 and M6 junctions making access much easier.
Listening to the other comments I think it will be my walking boots not my wellies. The walking boots are much more comfortable.
'You must have some bread with it me duck!'
on short leads or not. what about the p*ss and sh*t they'll leave everywhere? And it can't be "cleaned up"
How do you know a dog hasn't p*ssed on the grass before you sit down?
Wisley common covers almost 800 acres, Folk can walk their dogs there.
I don't think dogs should be in "formal" areas unless they are therapy pets
ours are never allowed in the walled garden, I have worked too hard to reinstate and they don't always behave. Plenty space outside for them
