been cold then warm and so on, but it’s been nice lately, no more snow hopefully lol but the plants in the garage/greenhouse make me feel a little better..<3 and the animals and Dillon of course ^-^
Its warm today, fooling me into it being Spring...did have a funny thought though after watching Monty Dons Paradise Gardens, I thought it be funny to have a part of the show called Monty Dons Chillin’ (At Longmeadow) lol but there are irises in the bed (cream and blue, black and orange, and green and blue bearded irises) Romanesco growing as well and looking pretty good! And some Autumn Seedums that i took from a mother plant a few weeks earlier. Annnd some of the seeds I’ll be trying to grow this year, most of them i have not written down and have to rely on memory, others I’ve flat out forgotten but will still try to grow at least every seed and packet I can this year that I have, though I may save a few as a just in case measure (JIC). And the very top one I do not know, if anyone else does please mention.
These are some home pics I’ll post a few more between my home, Brookgreen, around Pawleys, and some garden center plants. And I’m sorry it’s been a while, anyone else getting use to to the update? Lol u gardeners world!
This is Brookgreen garden and sculpture museum. It’s just like 4 or 5 miles away and I couldn’t tell you how big it is or how many acres tho I’ve been a hundred times ha! It’s been wonderful outside lately and was amazing this particular day and warm. The purplish tree is an Eastern Redbud. And I love the goldish yellow magnolia in flower, and other questions just ask or go to the Brookgreen website also they have a small zoo!
This is around the house and a couple from work(Luna moth). But it all seem so to be doing well this year, onions, potatoes, peas, zucchini, borage & other plants growing just fine. There is some cold predicited for the next week, but I hope it will just make them stronger lol. Rainbow(blumex) and (black) queen of the night tulips, red trumpet vine(red honeysuckle). Also strawberries growing in the iris and romensco bed, along with sugarcane and a yellow? onion plant. Ooh And the lilies are coming too!
I did lose a few plants this year, the large pitcher plant I’ve had for years, the evergreen tulips didn’t fair so well, for the pitcher it needed better drainage and I had it out in the garage where I’m sure it just got too cold and I should have kept it inside next to the orchids. The tulips should have had better drainage as well and would most likely have helped to have them in clay or terra-cotta pots, but we did have snow this year so it did help the tulips. Also the dragon(voodoo) lily bulb I ordered rotted, which I thought I did well at keeping dry but I guess not , And the crown imperials we planted last year haven’t came up yet either so I hope those didn’t rot, and one cactus(prickly pear)... I can’t think of anything else besides some herbs or wildflowers I grow, but I can’t get most of those back by seed or spare plants that will end up sprouting up lol. Also the area I live has been blanketed by pollen from the pines, oaks and other trees in flower. It’s normal. It’s not as bad as it can get, one year probably 2007 in the summer in Columbia I seen the wind blow what looked like literal greenish yellow blankets from the Tall pine trees, and the wind was hot too. There was a serious joke in the newspapers saying the wind felt like a hairdryer in your face. South Carolina has one the highest pollen counts in the country but not the most lol.
In the graveyard, and in the woods behind the house. Also the garage with the lime tree in flower, I was working in there earlier and opened a window when the wind blew inside and the smell of the lime flowers was just extravagant! It’ll be cold for a few days and I’m hoping it doesn’t effect too much but it was quite a warm day today so in went for a walk a couple minutes up the street to the graveyard to take pictures of some trees in blossom. And when I got back I wanted to take a picture of what I call a pinxterbloom azalea in the woods and saw the the pine with the fat base and got that too.
