I reported that comment last night too. Seems to take a while to get it removed.

    Hopefully right away MU.

Sometimes there is one or two around, obviously not today - unfortunately. HArmless spam which we make fun of is one thing, but that kind of comment is different.

Oh I see, thanks M-U. Shame that the comment stays around for the whole weekend though.

GD - as far as I know Guernsey adheres to EU rules and regs - except VAT and one or two other bits - as part of the 1972 UK accession Treaty.  It is illegal in the EU to disturb nesting birds and that includes clearing land and cutting hedges.   Too late now but you could consult your local council on restraining further such action by this landlord and the landscaping company.  It does seem barbaric.

As for the racist comments - atrocious.

The other reason might be that the tenants do not have the money to spend on garden tools. ........

Very good point, one that I was going to make but didn't want my post to be too long. many don't have money for much else let alone gardening-related things, particularly if they are asylum seekers, on zero hour contracts or minimum wage.

I'm very pleased to see the response to, and solidarity with, me challenging the person who made the racist comments. I'm sorry that GD's thread has been dominated by those responses, necessary though they are. But that's what trolls do, isn't it?

Nasty comments don't have to stay all weekend. The ignore button still works. At least I hope it does, I'm about to use it

Well done to everyone challenging these racist comments. On a brighter note you will hopefully be able to educate the new tenants and lead by example as you seem to really care for wildlife
