I loathe the colour of pink and blue hydrangeas - except at this time of year when they turn plummy and purply!
They look good with the sedum - really complement each other.
I was hoping to pick a few flowers from my Acteas as they have such lovely dark stems, but they're only just starting to flower. They'd go well with my dark sweet peas, so I'm keeping fingers crossed...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes - the acteas are nice, but they're usually flowering a bit earlier than this - mid August onwards. I still have flowers on them in October, so they're excellent for late colour, and the foliage is lovely too, and the fact that they like damp and shade is a real advantage

This isn't an planned arrangement and it's not in a jam jar, but I'm posting it anyway. I broke the Salvia Amistad when weeding and the ageratum, self seeded, was growing among the petunias in a trough that I was replanting with pansies.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yes I prefer to keep them for dried arrangements rather than gaudy pink blooms that wilt very quickly in the vase.
Love the look of Acteas - great to have something coming into bloom at this time of year.

Here is probably the last offering of the year. It's been a great thread. I have really enjoyed seeing all the plants.
Hogweed, your thread has been enjoyable
.
Probably my last lot too
They are both very pretty.
I should have another one but I'm off to child mind for daughter tomorrow, so it will have to wait.
Lovely colours in both posies.
Joyce, I was wondering what the plum coloured flowers towards the back were? I guess the pink ones that look a bit like gladioli are Kaffir Liles?
Mobow.. it's.a dark red astrantia at the back and yes..Kaffir Lilies.
Thanks Joyce. I haven't got any astrantia, so I'll have to look out for some as that one is a lovely colour.
