Thanks for that link, Slum. I have Instagram (and Pinterest) but am more of a Twitter and Facebook user. I've been gathering garden images on Pinterest but not in a very organised way, and I think I'll focus on gardening on Instagram too (I like to compartmentalise them, so I don't use them all for everything. Twitter is work-related, Facebook more personal, in my world, though of course the lines get blurred). Am off to follow Alys Fowler's recommendations :-).

My thoughts printed on this site are my thoughts, how I see things and what I think of those things. I do not know of any law or any infringement of the laws of free speech, hard fought for over two world wars and very recently against certain groups trying to reduce us all to their way of thinking that would alter anything. If we do not understand some of the latest technology or even wish too then that is up to each individual. Some of us are not keen camera buffs, some do not wish to leave themselves open to ridicule and insult on certain message boards, that is their choice and long may it be so.

One problem with Pinterest (as with other so-called social sites) is that anyone can post anyone else's photos, without acknowledging the original author's name. This is plain theft. Of course Pinterest has all the legal "Copyright Complaint" stuff on their site, but who takes notice? See https://about.pinterest.com/en/copyright image

Mike I am not and never have been a Mod on this or any other forum. That ridiculous rumour has been denied on here by Daniel.

If you're the person who started spreading that rumour via PM then I think you should apologise - it has caused a lot of trouble and unpleasantness and some people have left the board as a result.

I have been a member of this forum since 2011 and I use my brain and I understand how things work. Nothing more than that.

I knew your post had been removed because it was there when I first read the board in the morning and it wasn't there later. Another poster had already remarked that it was rude and insulting so I expect that person had also reported it.

You had also posted a link to your granddaughter's Instagram site and identified her as a schoolgirl - a very irresponsible and dangerous thing to do on a public forum.

And yet you were calling other posters ignorant - you know a little bit about Instagram and other aspects of the internet. Bear in mind that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

The handy " ignore" feature is a wonderful thing.

Papi Jo - that's very interesting re the posting of other people's  photos. I don't use any of these additional fetaures like Pinterest etc, but I didn't know that. I'm always slightly worried about the amount of information people freely 'share' on all sorts of forums and other platforms - especially personal photos.

When is this ridiculous idea about Dove 'removing posts' and being a Moderator going to be put to bed? Is Daniel going to have to make yet another statement! image

Incidentally Mike - it was me who flagged up your post to the mods. I replied to your comment as I thought it was rude. I wasn't going to report it, but the mods can't be everywhere, 24 hours a day, so it's up to everyone on the forum to report anything we think is unsuitable, offensive, inflammatory or disruptive. The mods look at it  - and they decide if it's to be removed.
