Since we are now confessing - I won £50 in a work lottery in Dec  - spent a bit on a cast iron sundial - I liked it! Spent the rest on the solar lights which started this discussion ! Money well spent I think ? and now here comes sunny Sunday ....

Reading this thread has made me feel better. Popped to Asda to buy milk but came out with solar lights, a standard lavender and yet another blue scabious. What are we gardeners like?

I gave up shopping on Amazon for Lent! Big mistake as I discovered online plant shopping instead! I have so many parcels from hayloft and j.parkers I have had to build a new raised bed and have offered hanging baskets to everyone I know to use up all the special offers!

I went to the GC on Saturday to buy a couple of bags off compost. Came home with 4 60 litre bags of Magic Jack compost (special offer!), 2 bags of JI no 3, one LARGE terracotta pot, and here is the extravagance - £20 on a garden orchid!! and a relatively dirt cheap tray of pink anemones!!! Oh, and a pair of leather gardening gloves!!

Glory be, have consigned myself to the house for a week!!

Its OK Tray, we are actually supposed to go to garden centres on easter weekend, think Monty will probably confirm this! Its tradition and a recognised British bank holiday pass time without which our retail sector would perish and thousands of underpaid staff would lose their jobs.....we are literally keeping the economy going! Keep up the great work all of us! I say! image

we stopped at Hardwick Hall ( one of our favourite places) on the drive back up from Dorset, while hubby and kids played in the woods I nipped in the grounds just to visit the loo...well the wood anemone was so pretty, sitting all alone outside the garden shop (obviously I had to look as I walked past), and they looked so lovely in the woods, and I've a shady border to fill....
