Morning all, everyone is busy, I can't wait to be joining you all again, this twiddling around thinking about it is very frustrating. At least now I believe it's going to happen rather than wondering if it might. So difficult to stay on the right side of positive without being over confidant and jumping the gun as it were.
At the moment I am trying to think of the best material at the cheapest price of course to make a flat terrace. I am leaning towards decking, although not my favourite, but because of ease and cheapness. Any ideas? It is for the outdoor tables, there is a slight slope that I think decking can fix, but I am open to any other ideas. It's not a massive area long and thin and there is a concrete base under some gravel and a few weeds which can easily be dealt with. Money is very tight, especially if I end up giving the extra 10,000€ but it is an essential need to operate at full capacity. Grateful for any ideas.
Have a lovely week end all, I am off to the signwriters to get another quote for another essential, and so it goes on. Luckily, I know enough gardeners to get my plants and seeds for free.

Found a picture to give you an idea. Might start an ideas/ before after thread so I don't bore the pants off anyone that has no idea / interest in what I am talking about.

DD I'm not keen on decking ... it can get very slippery ... I've also found it can provide a warm home for rats and it's very difficult to get at them ... if there was any chance of cake crumbs making their way between the slats it'd be rodent heaven.
If I was doing it here I'd go for some reclaimed pamments or quarry tiles http://www.norfolkreclaim.co.uk/pamments/ ... something you can chuck a pail of water over and give a good sweep in the morning and it'll be clean and dried off in half an hour. The thing with having the reclaimed ones is that a bit of wear and tear just improves their appearance - Shabby Chic
I don't know what you can get that's similar in France, but I'm sure there's something.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all! Afternoon Pat! Glad you had nice time with your sin and his cat, also glad the cat didn't find the finch nest!
Morning Dove, joining you for a coffee!
DD its sounding really positive! Fingers very crossed for you! Had you thought of making the tables from pallets? There are some very professional examples on YouTube, you would never believe they didn't cost a bomb!
Hosta! Poor you!!!! Don't stop complaining until the lovely drs have given you an answer and fixed it! Gentle hugs not squeezing tummy!
Hello and welcome Kay8 I'm Doves gardening daughter, nice to hear about your love if gardening, and that you are encouraging your son to get involved! Not sure if anyone on this forum has fessed up, but I had better explain....everyone on this forum is 27..... according to them, including my mother which is worrying what with me being forty one gardening obviously keeps us young at heart! But it's lovely to have more and more younger people showing an interest!
Safe travels DD! Have a lovely stay in Norfolk, think you have missed the worst of the bad weather!
Shattered after the first week in the new job but love it! Now have to tackle my own garden! the mermaid climbing rose is trying to take off the shed roof and needs a bit of drastic pruning! This will involve a ladder, a saw, some swearing, blood, thick gloves and several coffees first! Although my emails have just told me there is a £1 perennial sale at a lovely local nursery sounds silly not to!
My mum's giving me a break from little man today, so she's taking him at lunch and he's staying at hers. Gives me a chance to do some work on my garden!
This ^^ is what the garden was like when I first moved in. Mainly full of weeds and not level at all! And full of cats ??. I love cats, and all animals. But a pain for the garden! They love using mine as a toilet.
So, this is the horrendous sight that greets me in the morning at the moment ??. A load of dead grass and weeds as I decided to kill off the lot to level it all off and start again.
Atleast I have my garden arch ??. £6 from wilkos - not the best but it keeps me happy ?. I've got gorgeous blue fairy lights around it....

Morning all.
Warmest congratulations to you DD. x
Dare I say, ....... I've had 3 consecutive "good nights sleep"?? Is that tempting fate?
Very busy in garden yesterday including moving the sprinkler!! In Devon !! in April!!
Mrs Canada goose has babies, but I'm afraid I've only seen them through binoculars. If I get time I'll walk down to the lake with the camera.
You've all been sooooooooooooo chatty, I've kinda forgotten what everyone has said. Sorry if I've missed something important.
Thanks again for the support and good wishes.

Kay , Wonky is right. We need lots more young folk interested in gardening, along with my other great love Opera.
Why does it age to make folk appreciate stuff?
