You can get really good, practical advice from "Gardeners' Question Time" - Sundays, 2pm, Radio 4, repeated Fridays at 3pm.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Cripes!!! Its a good job I can record Beechgrove...who gets up at 6:45 on a Sunday???? This gardening lark can be 'ard work!!image

I do Linda - every week! I leave at that time to take daughter to work, but also to walk if I don't go on a Saturday, in which case I'm up early both days   image

I don't think any of the gardening progs are on at the same time every week on Sundays so you really have to record.

I'm almost ashamed to admit I've never listend to GQT  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

You should give it a go, Fairy.  I listened to this week's programme whilst planting some clematis... a bit of multi-tasking.  image

  • Fairy.....respect!!!!! I get up at 5:30 every weekday to go to work, so weekends are lie-ins!!! HOWEVER...I retire in May......no doubt I shall be awake every morning at that time. Shall I give you a call?? We can talk gardens!image

Enjoyed tonight's programme more, especially the interview with the wildlife man (apologies, forgot  his name),and also  the  dividing perennials. Although maybe Monty could have divided more than one variety image I suppose it goes to prove it's so  difficult to please all the people all the time !

Linda T - The thing about retiring is you wake up when you're ready too (or used to) and can roll over and go back to sleep if you feel like it.

I think we've had enough Barbados now.    Plants that grow easily there are not going to like UK latitudes or weather except in very sheltered gardens or maybe a conservatory not a luxury available to the majority of viewers I imagine.

Chris Baines is wonderful.    Good to see him back again.

I agree about the Chris Baines segment.

Will MD ever give up on those awful box hedges? They're even worse this year than last.

N.B. Peat based composts work at least as well as peat free for growing potatoes in sacks.

Chris Baines was a wonderful surprise last night, could listen to his stories all series long. Kind of glad the Barbados segments are over & agree with you Hosta about the box - I thought he had ripped them all out but obviously not!

According to Monty's tweet last night - there was supposed to be a feature from Adam Frost on planting a herbaceous border in his new garden but it got cut, surely the most relatable segment for viewers.

Yup, that'll be the world of just one gardener.  Freudian slip?
