I enjoy the hour long programmes very much, a welcome change and almost compulsive viewing, which Gardeners' World hasn't been for me for some time... I'm also enjoying the new cast members, most of whom I had never heard of before and this breathes new life into it...
A lot of fuss about bindweed in that gentleman's garden... if you've ever dealt with horsetail weed, as I do, you would know it's second only to Japanese Knotweed, and that bindweed is a doddle in comparison... if you keep pulling off the tips as they appear on the soil, it'll eventually kill it without chemicals... as the plant cannot photosynthesise.... takes about 3 years though... [Beth Chatto recommended advice from one of her books]....and it works...
He has the time and the money to do it that way - which is quicker that killing it whenever it appears. If you want a perfect garden that you can write books about then I guess you do things differently than if you have other things to do and to spend your money on
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
im 35 and can't believe I now love nothing more than spending time watching gardeners world.
10 years ago Friday nights were about football and going drinking lol
Monty is a legend and his excitement for his passion of gardening is amazing
The dafas as already mentioned on here also confused my wife and I on deadhead or cut down, I think there is generally now set rule, do either as you prefer.
I always forget his name but the guy with the amazing house he moved into last year looking to redo the garden, his ideas are right up my street and is the best bit about the program at the moment in my opinion
Darren, I'm 31 and I'm the same - the only thing better than watching GW is being up to my elbows in dirt on a sunny day.
We tend to watch it on weekend mornings on iPlayer and then, weather permitting, straight out into the garden (hopefully with a bit of inspiration). My questionable lawn will be getting a good weed, rake and aeration after the last episode
