Peter- Most seedlings can be grown on at a lower temperature than they need for germination, some seed packets will give you the optimum temperatures. I mostly grow veg from seed but I think flowers will be the same.
Peter: It's my first year of using a heated propagator, so no expert.
I've done small batches and then moved them out to my shelving in the conservatory when they've sprouted up and opened up the seed leaves.
I wouldn't put tiny seedlings in your outdoor cold frame yet, but move them out onto a bright windowsill for now if you want to free up the propagator.
Be aware that they will need extra protection for while yet, and hardening off before they can go outside. Don't get carried away with sowing loads for an early germination or you could get overwhelmed.
This is my shelf today....
It will soon fill up The hardy seeds I 'cold sowed' into the green trays the other day (without the benefit of the heated propagator) are already peeping through.
Jaffa: I haven't dared sow any cosmos yet because from past experience I've found they take off like a rocket and I can't keep up with them.
Its my new addiction lol, running out of windowsill space tho so stopping for a while, went a bit mental ordering seed December time, so I`ve plenty still to do
I find it really therapeutic after a stressful day at work tho, to come home and check up on everything.
