  • Hi fairy girl, I have had all of my pots with different bulbs covered in fleece, due to the cold weather. I take it off in the daytime and cover them again at night. As we all know our weather changes on a daily basis, and therefore I want to protect them as much as possible until the risk of frost has gone. image

While working in my kitchen preparing dinner this afternoon, I noticed a visitor weeding my strawberry bed, as to one side, her youngster. And, before you panic, they only eat grass, not shrubs, but no doubt there are several squashed strawberries.

She noticed Hubby at the window but went back to weeding.

Here's junior, who also noticed being observed through the window.

    Brilliant Pat image

Hope they haven't trampled too much though....

Jacqueline - those bulbs are completely hardy - no need for any protection. The Irises are native to the Caucasus etc,  and crocus will grow at alpine level.   Wind and rain will do more damage  than cold as it batters them. You can save yourself a lot of work  image

My feet do enough damage Dove - and they're not even that big....image

Those iris are nice and bright - I don't really like the blue ones as they're usually a bit pale for me (and I don't like blue image)  but they look quite strong coloured. Or is the camera?  image

Minus 20 - or more for the irises I believe.  image
