I think the photos might be working again...

Hooray!  These roses were scenting the garden when we got back on Tuesday.  'Fair Maiden's Blush' above, 'Rosa Mundi' (the Yorks and Lancs rose - we live on the border) below.

    image

Rosa moyesii 'Geranium' is unscented, but a stunning colour and loved by insects:

We planted it to deter wanderers seeking a short cut home from the town.  It works - and regularly draws blood from me when I weed round it!

Only 2 more roses, these in partial shade; Rosa glauca and R. rugosa (with bumble bee).

This thrift just flowers and flowers.  image

Most of my garden is shady.  This Primula (capitata) doesn't mind, and has the most delicious scent, if you can get down to 5" to smell it...

    image

In the shadiest parts most of the interest comes from foliage, with a bit of help from the hardy geraniums.

Salix boydii with Pieris 'Katsura'.  The pieris doesn't flower much but I really grow it for this leaf colour.  image

It's amazing to see the change after 2 weeks away.  image

Lovely gardens and photos everyone. Liri, I love that primula, gorgeous color. Ive also got the pieris katsura, very glossy. Must look back to previous page.

  • Some lovely pictures here - we all love our flowers and plants and admire other's that we wish were in our garden.  A few from me today.imageimageimageimageI am not sure of the poppies name, but the flower only lasted a day. The rose is Golden Oldie and a couple of views of the planting around our pond.
