There have been some terrific pictures on here - so good to see how my plants "should" look but often don't. My first picture is my new castor oil plant given to me as a 3 inch seedling. The second picture is one of the two containers outside the front gate - they have ivy geranium in their second year - so colourfulThe third picture is an Eucomis - which will look even better when the flower opens up.
Yes, but I am sure your eucomis looks a whole lot better than my tatty specimen Joyce. I may have to move the plant into a larger pot once it has finished flowering.
Yes, the front gate urns (not strictly urns) are amazing and people passing by often stop to admire them. I water them (not the people) every alternate day and feed the plants at least once a week. Worth it for the amount of lovely flowers produced - they overwintered very well too, flowering until Dec/Jan and again from April onwards.
A few pics to compare my back garden last year to this year. i quite happy with the sunny borders. Shade borders will hopefully be lovely next year with lots of foxgloves.
Thank you both Yes the gravel made a world of difference at brightening up everything. I enjoyed growing loads from seed too and it means I can experiment each year

GD - hard to believe all that colour is from one container! Absolutely gorgeous.
Your eucomis is much further on than mine.......temperature difference between us.

What a wonderful transformation jaffa.
Gravelling the concrete paths makes such a difference - a great contrast with the colourful borders.
Thank you both
