    Nanny Beach, I'm sure other people's gardens look better, on the whole, because they choose the lovely flower-filled tidy bits to photograph.  Of course, there are those who manage to keep everything pristine and tidy, and don't have piles of pots and half-used bags of compost mouldering behind the shed...  but most of us have a bit which could be included in the "Gallery of Shame" thread on here.  I know I do... the pictures are on that thread to prove it!  image

    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • You're right. Didn't know such a thread existed. I will take a picture of the stacked broken glass from the old greenhouse, the stack of wooden crates, Empty glass bottles not yet taken for recycling and best of all, the debris from my son's and friends BBQ last week.

    Nanny Beach, I don't have a Smart phone either. I think other people's gardens look good because they are fresh and new to you. You get used to your own garden.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I love looking at other people's gardens especially yours BL.

    I'm always looking over walls and low hedges at gardens and having a chat with the gardener.

    I really enjoy travelling by public transport.  On a bus, the extra height enables you to peep over garden walls, and from the train you can see lots of back gardens and allotments...  image

  • Yes, I do that too Joyce - I used to love travelling on the bus for the very same reason, although when it was December I used to count how many houses had Christmas trees in their homes - my daughters would say that was a bit sad but I bet they did it too!

    A few pictures taken over the past couple of days.  So pleased with some of the plants - others are disasters this year including some of my dahlias

    .imageimageimageimageimageimage I must give thanks  for the pretty dianthus and the Lucifer which were kindly sent to me last year - I am very pleased with how they have grown.

    Snap about the bus, GD!

    Lovely flowers, definitely needed to brighten up my view this evening.  Thanks!  image

    @GD,

    Lovely bright colours in your last pics. Especially that Crocosmia 'Lucifer'.

    @Nanny Beach,

    True, latest mobile phones take great pics, but there's nothing like a "real" computer screen (or, second best a tablet) to view full-size pics.

    Yes, that's what I do, I confess.image For instance, here are some carefully chosen views of my garden taken this morning. If you are viewing this forum on a desktop or laptop computer, remember you can right-click the pics to view them in their full size.
