It's either Silver Chimes or Thalia Dove, but Thalia's later I think. They're very similar anyway. Multi headed and very perfumed. Everything's been early here this year. The alpina had several inches of snow on it last week, but it's happy as Larry there, and has clearly preferred the colder, drier winter this year than the usual cold, wet one!

It's quite mature now too - covers a good bit of the fence down near the gate  image

My Thalia is still in tight buds Fairy and I remember that last year mine was out before your ones.

Not that I'm in a race image My blue Alpina isn't flowering yet.....it's north facing.

Yes - I think they're later than Chimes, Joyce - I love both of them.  Those had been in a pot for a couple of years and got planted into that new bed last autumn  image

Constance is west-ish facing, sheltered from the mid day sun when we get it, and tucked in a corner with the fence, and neighbour's garage wall behind her. She gets the full force of the  wind and rain, but doesn't seem to mind that. She's a good few weeks further on than previous years though, which is lovely. I always look forward to the seedheads too. One of my favourite plants in the garden. Keen to get another for further along the fence.

  • Thanks for sharing your clematis Constance with us Fairy.  I have one on order, which I ordered earlier in the year - and just recently my Aunty Constance died, so I will plant it in remembrance of her.  The colour is beautiful, and I do hope I am able to enjoy the flowers next year.

Hefty - that's great! Good luck with it. Love your pictures - you clearly have a real feel for it. Here's to all your satisfied clients - present and future   image

It's a lovely plant GD - I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and nice when it has a special meaning for you. The colour is pretty accurate in the pix. Quite a dusky colour, and bright foliage. Hope it does well for you.  image

Well done Hefty. Is that a very tall looking lavender stoechas in Image 4?

Mice or rats.   If you dip the seeds in paraffin before soaing it puts them off.  Lovely daffs.

They're b***ers for a pea or bean seed. image

Loana - if you don't want to (or can't) do as Obelixx suggests , you can also sow seed and keep covered with a clear lid till germinated, then plant out.  image
