Sorry for late reply everyone, having problems posting as per the iPad freeze thread
love reading and looking up all your choices
i was pleased with my Dorset perrenials order as pots look good and was well packed. Can't really tell as most are dormant stage but feel weighty and what I can see looks healthy and good ?
I think you can order them but they aren't sent until spring. At least that's what happens here in France. We are back from Norfolk and there was a seed catalogue and a plug plant catalogue waiting.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Iamweedy good question and think the girls have already given good answers
I would normally wait till frosts are over but i had got a bit excited as liked the look of a paticular plant and only place i could find it was at Dorset perrinials and beforei knew it i had made up order to the amount you could get free delivery and two days later they were with me
i have tucked them up to the back of the house so quite protected but confident they should be fine. I hope so as i have rather a large collection of others that i brought end of October and haven't planted out yet!

It's ok Joyce my greenhouse is fit to burst with young plants waiting to get out. I am completely changing both the front and back garden to take into account that I'll be needing a wheelchair. Getting everything sorted now and I'll have some raised areas so that I can still pitch in. I'm trying to keep the cost down by growing a lot from seeds and cuttings but I can't resist a good browse online.
Beaus, I have to agree that ruby port is a corker and I grew E.pallida from seed a few years back, they are beautiful. The geranium though might put a name to one I was given when a friend of mums moved house and let me raid her garden before leaving.

Is it not a bit early to be ordering perennials?
What do others think about this and what are the best nursery's for herbaceous perennials? Advice please, I can certainly get some planning done.
'You must have some bread with it me duck!'

BM - Ruby Port is a real beauty!
I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one with plants still to go into the ground. . . .
Thank you Joyce
Here are my two stash piles
, you are not alone!
i have a small plastic greenhouse full plus a few at the back door. They are all hardy and look fine.

Aym I've been at the Dahlias in Wilko too. ?
Jenny, sorry to hear that you will be requiring a wheelchair ((hugs))
Good idea to get raised beds planned now so that will still be able to enjoy your garden.
A friend's sister has been gardening from a wheelchair for some years now and has won prizes for her veg at a local show.
