Thanks for the heads up about Wyvale Beaus, I do like some on Plantagogo and heucheraholics but a bit pricey at times. I'm on Chailey iris, some corkers but I'd have to dig an extention out onto the golf course behind my house to fit them in. Well they've had some nutter growing runner beans out there as they said it was 'only a lawn and she was sure nobody was using it'. ?
Definitely going for a wow with that lot Aym. I've grown Santa Claus, Kenora, labyrinth and Ambition before. Enjoy your dahlias. ?
Has anyone used DT Brown for seeds or plants? They have a fairly good selection especially for wild flowers/insect friends seeds also their vegetable seeds have been recommended to me by a gardener who has won awards for his produce at our local shows.
I've used them for seed I n the past Guernsey and had good results. The only one I wouldn't touch after resent use for plants or seeds is T& M. I've had some good seeds from Chiltern, I like to try some odd edibles. They were the only place I could get seed for bucklers leaf sorrel a while back. For fresh and some unusual flower seed a grower just outside of Bath called Special plants nursery. The lady who owns it Derry, grows the plants, collects the seed and ships it out. She'll give you all the help she can but I had a lovely Verbena 'Bampton' that I grew from her seeds and there's a few more bits I fancy.
Put in the order as mentioned above for delta's sara and Loropetalum fire dance. Same place as where I ordered the witch hazel & stipa from before Christmas, but as they hadn't despatched that order yet they knocked 30% off this order ?.
Very much appreciated - shout out to Kelways for great customer service (and I wasn't complaining to begin with!).
That is exciting for you Beaus, and how do they look, quality etc.? It is always good to know which companies can provide the quality plants and seeds for us all.
Thanks Jenny30, that's two positive recommendations now, and I saw my friends veg's that won prizes at the show, he was delighted with the results.
Andy are you near Kelways at all? If not keep an eye open on the website as Chelsea flower show finishes as they grow the plants for a lot of different show gardens and everything that comes back has to be sold off. I think Dave said it was 7 or 9 show gardens last year. I go over after they get the returns and sift through the mass of plants, great fun. They also help with my tree fern and other fern problems. Dave who manages Kelways also has a sideline with a neighbour of his called desert to jungle and they have the most fabulous exotics.
Guernse, a bit of shopping is planned now I take it? ?
