guernsey donkey, nice haul, off to b&q today then...I had promised my daughter I would give up buyin plants for lent! oops, maybe I should try something easier like chocloate ( my blood is around 90% green&blacks)
My daughter doesn't understand my plant habit either RM. She always moans when I put garden or kitchen stuff on my wishlist for presents. She even moans about fresh veg from the garden now - risk of too much protein from caterpillars............

She's only 5! She does quite like to help me sow, and really loves to pick flowers ( and fruit!) She's been learning about lent and asked what I'd be giving up, then she had a 'great idea'! " Mummy!! You could stop buying plants! " (" Do seeds count?")
My 4 standard roses arrived today and are currently sitting Ina bucket of water in the utility room.
i can't really remember ordering them so I have no idea of the names but I do remember one is pink, one white, one red and one peach. It was a deal of the day from my ideal world.
i also have a green house full of sickly plants I bought for between 50p an £2 each from the clearance section of my local garden centre at the weekend. A few different types of heathers, some winter aconite, a couple of trays of primul, a Pelargonium, 2 fushia marshmellow, 2 standard fushias and a fern. I only went in for some slug pellets? But I can never resist looking in the clearance bays and i am a sucker for a sickly half dead plant.

our local gc dosen't seem to do clearance, though had a few bargains from b&q. Odyssey looks lovely beau's mum. I just got rosa mundi, Queen of Denmark is still top of my wishlist, I may get it from the rhs show at Chatsworth in June, never been to an rhs show before but chatsworth is one of our favourite places, we go most weeks and it's only 25 mins away, seemed rude not to go and drool over David Austin stand,...
I love a good rummage in the bargain bins. I come away with plants I never knew I wanted or needed. Sometimes I buy them just because I feel sorry for them with no one to nurse them back to health and end up giving them away as I just don't have space for them. End of season bulbs are always a must buy. buy for pennies and popped into my borders and wait until the next year to see what comes up.

Gardengirl - I had that in my Belgian garden. Took two goes to get established but was then a good strong plant. The flowers are a lovely colour.
