Clari - your OH needs a rocket in his nether region. Ludicrous to have all this still waiting after so long and with winter already so much colder than last year.
Our two dogs sleep downstairs but are no longer confined to their cages at night. They get a sofa each or their basket of they like. Upstairs is off limits but we have the kittens to entertain at the mo.

Ob: I'm using some drawing software that I used to use at work. But nothing is sitting right. Every time I think I have it I change my mind!
Joyce: don't worry. EVENTUALLY he's going to have to ask me what I want for Christmas If I ask for the "an idiots guide to electrical wiring" manual perhaps he'll take the hint that I'm fed up of waiting. I wouldn't mind so much but he's started stealing my hot water bottle to warm his feet
Ask friends and colleagues or even local Facebook page for recommendations. There must be one for Sheffield. It'll be safer and quicker and you'll get the conformity certificate you need.
Reality check for OH.
No more lending him your truck till he's got his domestic bliss brain in gear.

Hello all - I'm back - more hair on the salon floor than there is left on my head A bit of light shopping done too - and my Boots points have been spent on my favourite perfume
Two herrings from a fish stall on the market for supper, they'll be wrapped in streaky bacon, then baked and eaten with jacket potatoes and fennel and orange salad and celeriac remoulade.
Clari - ask your OH if he's read Aristophanes' Lysistrata ........ if he hasn't tell him you'll get him one for Christmas
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Lovely couple of days in London. Had a fantastic time at the V&A yesterday. Freebie admission, excellent (freebie) tour of the medieval galleries (my particular interest), very reasonably priced lunch in stunning surroundings and just so many exquisite treasures to see. Will return very soon to visit some of the other galleries. If I lived in or nearer to London I would go and work / volunteer there in a heartbeat.
£20 to get in Westminster Abbey seemed quite reasonable after a visit to Fortnum & Mason last night.
Large box of chocolates (2kg) - £195
A bottle of 50 year old whisky - 70cl - £22,000 (yes - that's twenty two thousand pounds!! ). But you do get a certificate with it to confirm it's genuine - so that's ok. I bought two - so that's a couple of stocking fillers sorted
You've all been nice and chatty but I've only skimmed through what's been said because some of you were talking about the final episode of The Missing. I was 'busy' drinking margaritas last night so will watch it tonight.
Kittens are looking perky Obelixx. You'll get nothing done with kittens in the house - you just have to play with them all the time.
Get those electrics sorted soonest Clari. Don't forget you'll be asked for electrical certificates of compliance etc when you sell the house and some purchasers' solicitors will get very twitchy if you can't supply them.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

I'd get a qualified sparky in, better safe than sorry.
Bypass the manual and the idiot and ask for an electrician..
If you saw the quality of the work the last qualified electrician did you'd understand my reserved judgement.

Been doing HW, sitting room dusted, polished and vacuumed even behind the furniture. Kitchen wiped down and floor washed, bedroom dusted.
Was cold today, although sunny, didn't really feel like gardening. Woodburner flaming merrily in sitting room.
I agree, get an electrician, but not the last one! Is there Check-a-trade where you are, Clari? You can read reviews.
