Gorgeous. You have a great camera - and a great eye too.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

In the absence of any hills, I've been taking a few skies and sunrises, so  I thought I'd post a few here
8th December - the  windfarm in the distance with a louring sky

Enjoyed looking through this topic, goes without saying there are some cracking photos.
@Liriodendron ...you were saying on page 86 whats this on the last cacti photo?

Thanks again!  Glad to have encouraged some of you to put Madeira on the bucket list...

Still no suggestions about the last photo on page 86... any ideas??
Were you still asking or was it a quiz type question?
I wondered if it is something like a shot looking up through the first cactus picture, the fuzzy cylindrical one. It looks like it could be quite hairy around the trunk and the sun could be casting light on the hairy bits. That or a cobweb of some kind.
  • Hi @Rubytoo

I just wondered if anyone might have a guess at the odd photo.  I included it as a joke, really - I like taking photos from odd angles...

You're pretty well right; it was a massive cobweb.  There were loads in the cactus garden - maybe a particular sort of spider liked the conditions there.  The cobwebs were really dense!  You can see a few cactus spines, but the "halo" effect was obtained by taking the photo through the cobweb, against the sun.   :)

Glad you noticed and thanks for replying. It was an interesting angle. The web was dense and spread too far from the cactus trunks. It was the way the sun caught some bits that didn't seem right for the cactus hairs.
    Tricky and appreciated shot :)
