Didn't get round to doing photos of last week's little outing to Ben Donich, so here they are. Always nice to get out when there's a wee dicht of snow - last week was the first fall of this season in the west.
The ravens sat still for a minute or two on the crags
sparkly frosted snow
near the summit - you can just make out the trig and a few people (left of centre) on the plateau
view down Loch Goil/Loch Long
Ben Lomond
Beinn Narnain and The Cobbler on the left, Lomond on the right in the distance
...and a little solitary sheep oblivious to all the walkers a few feet away
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
It's a great little hill scroggin. I mainly do it in winter conditions or when the weather's poor for a bigger walk. It's always good fun
I headed up to Glen Clova yesterday on a small mission. I did the little walk round Loch Brandy to visit a memorial at the head of the corrie that I'd missed when I did the hill there last December. It's dedicated to a young marine who died while out running in extreme weather conditions in November 2014. I won't post the photo of the memorial itself, as I feel it's private. His name is Luke Ireland and the info is readily available online.
Lucky to get a parking spot as there was a half marathon in Glen Clova. There's a good path up to the lovely lochan, and the sun was trying hard to beat the snow showers and clouds which were rolling in around the Munros in Glen Doll - a little further along the road
the snow showers were soon making their way along the glen floor
you quickly gain height going up 'The Snub' on the west side, and the view from the head of the corrie is grand across the sparkling lochan
looking the other way to the hills at Lochnagar with their snowy tops
respects paid, and a little further on, looking back across to the corrie wall
...and back down the eastern side to the lochan.
A short walk, but very enjoyable, even in the circumstances, and fitting for Remembrance Day

Wow fidget. Those structures are incredible. I like those much better than the plants
The 'falling water' (as opposed to a waterfall) is pretty terrific too
Love your sun/mist pic too scroggin

Stunning fidget. What a great trip you had
Thank you scroggin. It was just something I wanted to do. The story is so sad.

What a beautiful picture, scroggin... love the sunlight bursting through the clouds.
