Just finished wallpapering the hall, tricky going round the radiator. It was my job to measure , cut out and paste it. Cut the one round the radiator and cut the wrong side, had to do it again. Now it's just got to be painted.
We are down to just one more room left to strip of plaster! Hopefully that will be done come the weekend. We've even found local bricks which amuses me greatly.
Awaiting quotes from the plumber and stove installation team. Then we can book the electrician and plasterer. These are all bits unfortunately beyond our skill set.
Bob: we've been here 3 years. Most of that spent saving up and deciding what we want. It has all rather escalated though! The fire place will be replastered; the photo makes the brick work look smarter than it really is.
Any, don't know much about chimneys. Perhaps ask the roof man about it. When I was growing up,we had 1 chimney. My dad blocked it up a couple of times, but never had any smells from it. I used to like those days when we used to do the toast. Perhaps you could Google it.
Aym, no you wasn't stupid, you probably thought that it would be alright. We all do it. Can you ask him if he can do anything. Or ask a person who specialises in chimneys.
Here's my 'bag' cast mini-pond. As mentioned, still needs the rocks nearest the top to be cemented in place which will plug a couple of holes and should ultimately make it another two inches deeper. The bit on the right-hand-side (slightly blu-ish rock) is the waterfall bit that will overflow into another mini pond- far right of photo where those blu-ish rocks cease.
I'd love a bigger pond but it has to be something my super-youngsters won't drown themselves in, accidents do happen n' all that. I ran out of rocks so couldn't make this rockery and pond any larger! That's not a complaint, though, the main purpose is to give toads somewhere else to have a sit-down and if a hedgehog felt like having a little drink than that's okay too.

Aym, that's terrible.
Hope you can make the best of what you've got.
Good luck. Sorry I can't be a lot of help.
Aym, your removed chimney stack, how much of it was removed? Is there part of a chimney stack with an open top in your loft then?
