I agree Patsy F. Monty is such a natural presenter and his advice and recommendations are extremely useful. Its great to know that he has his garden snags too e.g. box blight. I love to see the antics of Nigel and Nell and on a Friday night I feel that a friend has called round to talk about gardening. The programme is an oasis amongst the dross and repeats that have become the bane of TV these days and make me resent the cost of my TV licence.

Yes, and he has no plans to retire yet:

That's good to know, though I don't have passionate likes or dislikes when it comes to gardening presenters.

  • Yes i do agree with all of you, Monty is an excellent gardener and a jolly good presenter.Long may he reign.Great Garden and super Dogs.He is much more cheerful and that twinkle is back in the eye Keep it up Monty .

Now this younger upstart Frost. If he thinks drilling a hole in a post and clipping 4 old rose stumps is a contribution to gardening he should think again. A very large Veg plot seems to have shrunk Why so many "coffins"?

The only reason I watch Gardeners World is for Monty. I could listen to his voice for hours!

  • I second that MayLane!  image  He's got such a natural presenting style, he's by far my favourite "celeb"!

I like Adam Frost too and have been enjoying his projects and explanations from his new garden.   He's got excellent design credentials, as Dove says, plus he knows his plants and can DIY with proper wood and tools and not endless string and hazel sticks which are not easily accessible for most, especially urban, gardeners.

I like his veg plot layout which makes excellent sense for perennial and rotational crops.

As for Monty - he's calming (except when he gets it wrong) and eloquent but I still can't get past the problem with the "nation's favourite gardener" presenting GW when he hasn't even got a proper lawn.  How many times do we get asked about lawn care on here and yet he can't ever cover it on GW.   OH thought the guest slot on lawns last week was really good and liked the chap too which helps.
