The way I see it, if you do not like the presenter or programme then do not watch "tis simples" as the Meerkats say. There are plenty of make over shows with young people strutting their stuff and if they entered my garden gate they would find the dog chewing their trouser legs (he is only little but fierce).
Monty gives both simple instruction for new starters and shows some of us very old hands what we have been doing wrong for years, the mix of the one hour show to me is perfect a bit of everything including Carol whom I love dearly. We have had the trendy younger presenters who threw expensive tools around and left them dangerously laying about, the bog land that got tons of topsoil dropped on it to no avail, the expensive trendy brick greenhouse that was not used to capacity and in the end the whole thing dropped quietly to die away. The BBC work on numbers, Monty and Nigel bring in those numbers and if something is working then leave it alone. People will ask me did I see the latest death and destruction on Corrie or some young wannabe thrown out of a jungle. NO I do not watch, I have an on off switch on my TV.
I think Monty looks superb for his age and he isn't fat either. I'm 54 with chronic back problems and I don't look half as energetic and healthy as him as I hobble round the garden
I like the new one hour programme, also Monty he is down to earth and tells us about gardening that we can understand. I love the way he shows us when fruit and veg are ready to pick and usually try's them has he goes, just like most of us do, and Nell and Nigel bring in something special to the programme.
The headline is a bit different to the content. The headline implies / strongly suggests that Adam Frost is taking over Gardeners World by referring to him as "The new presenter". The article itself simply refers to him as joining the team.
Time will tell as to which interpretation is the more accurate.
Just watched the first of the one hour programmes and loved it. The piece on deliphiniums gave me some great advice and I'll certainly be seeking out that clematis that Monty highlighted at the end of the programme. I'm also really looking forward to seeing how the new garden progresses.

Not really. All the presenters on GW are credited as "presenters", not just MD. The article clearly states: "To help the programme expand into its new hour, a roster of new presenters now joins regulars Monty Don, Joe Swift, Rachel de Thame and Carol Klein.
Prominent among the half a dozen or so fresh faces is Adam Frost."
So, there's no ambiguity there that I can see. Furtermore, it doesn't say, "Monty will always be a part of it..." but "“The core of the show will always be Monty at Longmeadow,” explains executive producer Paolo Proto." I think the OP misread the article somewhat.
MD has always been perfectly slender and it didn't seem to me that he looked "tired". Yes, he did have a minor stroke in 2008, so not quite "a couple of years ago".
I love his gentle, urbane manner, his dogs and his other animals - from chickens to pigs and cattle. Really wonderful, so hopefully he'll grace our screens for a long time yet.

Frank.
Monty is great, so is Adam, we are lucky to have them on our tv's.

It is like Frank says, if you like it watch it, if you don't, then don't.
I think Monty is wonderful, he has a beautiful use of language, and says things that are worth listening to.
He has always appreciated the benefits of gardening to the "soul", and was one of the first people, to highlight the benefits to mental health.
My OH loves the dogs, but has no interest in the gardening, as she says, she has someone to do the garden for her. Anyway we are both happy.
I would like more Adam Frost as well, a garden designer I have always admired.

The Beeb should take a look in at the comments for feedback.
He won't retire, you don't stop gardening just because someone gets to a certain age.He has help with the garden anyway.
