  • Sending you a message Perki.  Sounds like your afternoon planting wasn't a huge success?

Filled a barrow of fallen twigs and listening to the wind getting up again, I will have to repeat this tidying processes again tomorrow. Got into the hole to collect another couple of buckets of stones and pruned a couple of roses. Transplanted a lettuce from one 3" pot into a 7" in the cold GH and that was it for today.

It has not been a bad day , spent day at allotment, lots done including a major prune to a Budlia bush and brought 4 bags of cuttings for garden bin

Going to local garden club talk shortly image

  • Hope you have an enjoyable and informative meeting GWRS and don't forget to share your new found knowledge with us!

I too pruned a couple of Buddlia today - luckily I had kept them under control so they weren't too overgrown this time. Collected more fallen pine cones and twigs and potted on a few seedlings in the GH.

Guernsey D , the talk was on spices , very interesting and the lady giving the talk bought lots of samples to sniff and see if you could recognise it

We don't have a meeting in December so there where mince pies and mulled wine  to finish off , a pleasant evening image

  • Sounds like a nice friendly meeting with a chance to socialize with refreshments GWRS and a bit of fun.

When we married my OH did a crash course in gardening at evening class - he had come from a family with a concrete backyard and no idea how to look after plants - my Dad soon initiated him in the joys of the outdoors!!

  • Got a bit carried away cutting back brambles at my voluntary gardening job. Now got a painful shoulder...ouch ! Still got a Buddleia in there that needs a prune but will get doctor to fix my shoulder first. Otherwise will prune it in Spring as I dont suppose it will care. Some pics of my gardening job etc imageimage

  • You've certainly got a job on there Cottage Garden Lady, but put your health first - like you say the garden can wait a while.  I have put my back out two or three times since gardening more seriously - gardening should come with a health warning - yes it is good to get some fresh air, to benefit from the exercise and have something positive and healthy to do - but don't over do it - your body will certainly let you know the next day!
