Another egg cup full of rain last night and then bright with spells of sunshine today.. the garden really needs a good down pour but doesn't look like it will get in anytime soon.
To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.
Stockton, woke to a glorious sunny day, a slight breeze moving the Lilac blossom. A lovely restful sight.
G.D My Daughters said way back in 1998, "we know nothing about you and Mum before we were born" well it could be because you were more interested in your swinging life than ours, we as are all parents were bed breakfast and money, then they marry and find out the truth. I started to write and have folders of stuff up to getting married. It got me on BBC as a researcher then on Camera thus ends my story. Then I discover every one thinks the forces just march about looking like button sticks, not so. they run the most advanced machines in the world which all need to be maintained and kept running under all circumstances, The first man killed in the first Iraq war was a REME man repairing a tank engine. Some of it is so unbelievable people would think it made up so I have not bothered.
Well we wanted rain and by George are we getting it - lashing down since 8.30 this morning and the water butts are now full. Of course we are all moaning that why it should happen on a Sunday when there is so much outside sport and activities organized on the island and if it rains again tomorrow then the donkey show will have to be cancelled - I was so looking forward to going to it - hee haw.
You should bother Frank - your memories should not be lost, but published perhaps in an army magazine or similar. Your daughters should be so proud of you - perhaps they don't realize just what you have gone through during your active career. I know my mother told us the same story of shooting down a German plane during her time in the ATS - she was so proud of that action, but Dad kept quiet, he never said a word of his escapades - we found his experiences written down in his diaries once he had died. I have never felt so sad, he had kept all this bottled up inside him for over 50 years, he was the best Dad, I don't know how he managed to cope so well as there was no counselling or therapy in those days. Stiff upper lip and all that seemed to work for him.
Stockton on Tees beautiful sunshine and clear skies, a lot of family coming and going yesterday so an easy one today.
G.D. Burma was a hard slog I had an Uncle in that lot. If your Mother was in Ack Ack she was brave it was dangerous, the gun flashes could be seen from the air and got machine gunned. I came home from the Middle East mess of the time, it is still going on and I was greeted with "been chasing good looking Camels in the Oasis have we". I went back off leave early as I had grown away from the people I grew up with. You clammed up and got on with life.
It's raining cats and dogs here - the wind has been so strong that all my ranunculus and lovely tulips have keeled over. We are having 2 months rain in two days.
I feel sorry for all the organized car races, charity walks, horse racing, donkey show and other major events planned for today. The horse racing alone has lost over £25,000 organizing fees today due to the poor weather.
I think with the world wars everyone was affected in one way or another Frank, with either family or relatives seeing action, but the subsequent wars were more on a voluntary basis so it is difficult for those not affected by it to understand the strain that is put on those involved either directly like yourself or your families. You will always be a hero in the eyes of those who take time to understand.

Proper rain here too, at last, but only for the last 20 mins or so. Fingers crossed it sticks around for a while.
Raining, last night and this morning.mild

GD, hope your rain remembers to stop once the garden has had sufficient.
