Forum friends.. Please I don't wish to cause any kind of mayhem but. Worldwide transpotation of plants ,fruits and veg have hit the news. Worldwide strange things are taking place. Universally global warming perhaps tops the bill. Sadly so many poo poo such an event. So be it . If I might solicite my friend punkdoc.
The zika virus has hit the headlines. Briefly quoting from what comes across my desk daily. From WHO. The world Health Oganisation. A blood donor was suddeny infected. Thankfully, he/she contacted the medical authorities. Test were carried out and it was found that the Zika virus coudld also be spread via blood transfusions. So folks if you think you might be at risk. Contact your GP>
Aedes type mosquitoes are found in the UK but not Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. Aedes mosquitoes are not the type of mosquito that have caused problems.
Neither the Zika virus, nor its principal mosquito vectors, are currently found in the UK.
Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, and other mosquito species that may be capable of transmitting Zika virus, are not found in the UK.

Horitco made a very sensible and accurate post... Of course the Zika Virus is liable to turn up in blood but the donated blood is actually screen for so many diseases today, if found the inot of blood is discarded.. a The Donor has to sign a declaration as to if they have been to certain areas, depending what is percieved as the current guidelibe...
Rather than flap and panic you may want to consider this, for centuries now,
the Anopheles (Malaria carrying type) Mosquito has been alive and well living on the marsyes at Pagelsham in Essex..I sail and the Pilot books actually warn the sailors/ users..
Yet in 26 years of nursing and a similar time sailing those waters I only ever came across cases of Malaria that had been contracted abroad..
Zika will get here eventually,so will Rabies.... I'd rather have Zika any day.. The Condition caused by Zika is Microcephaly this is rare and there are other causes of this..
The Fetus is formed by 12 weeks, even if you contracted Zika after this period you would not have an affected baby.. It affects someone who has future plans to get pregnat . But only for a 2 year period after first contracting it... Wait 2 yers and you will be fine.. Trust me I'm a Midwife lol..
They were like that in Glen Nevis on Saturday, Joyce - on the lower slopes of An Gearanach, and especially when taking the boots off to cross the Steall Falls. Wasn't for too long though - managed to keep wiping them away. Higher up there was enough breeze to do it for me
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I don't think we import blood from those affected countries, again, it is not in the Uk.
the message is, if your travelling abroad, be careful if you are in the very early stages of pregnancy or intend to get pregnant, and it you intend to sleep with a stranger whilst on holiday, use a condom.
they are working very hard to get this under control, spraying from trucks and planes vast quantities of insecticides along the roads! They call it Fogging. Not sure what's worse.

I foolishly wore a sundress on Wednesday and now have hot and swollen patches on my legs due to a bad bite reaction.
I'm treating them with over the counter hydrocortisone cream, which is what the GP prescribed last time this happened to me in 2012. I bought a fresh tube at the chemists yesterday for only £3.50, much cheaper than paying a prescription charge.
You have to be careful with it, only apply a thin layer, and for not more than 3 days but it does help tremendously.

Your welcome and i hope your order arrives quickly and that the product works for you just as well as it does for so many others before you.
I've ordered some too, my son and I don't want to be bitten again.
Try making an X with your thumbnail on a bite. It really eases the itching for a while.
Read it and weep....
