I loved the rowing too and the sailing. Saw Andy as well. Now need to cook dinner.

I've been reading the comments about K J-T with interest, and now the competition is over with Jess Ennis-Hill failing to retain her title because of under par performances in the throwing events, are people going to claim that Jess didn't practice enough?

Your in depth analysis, is amazing DHR.

Undoubtedly, both girls would have done better if they had listened to your insightful comments.

Feel a bit of a twit image I said "Allegro" instead of "Valegro" on page 2. Must be because of having a piano playing OH.

You're not alone there, Liz. I always thought he was called Allegro as well!image

How very kind of you DHR ... image

Have you been leaning over Clare Balding's shoulder or riffling through her handbag?  You must have some sort of inside information ... I'm sure such detail isn't available to ordinary mortals image

According to logic, Jess Ennis-Hill should never have been any good at the Heptathlon, she's far too small.  Thankfully either nobody told her that, or she chose to ignore themimage

It would have been great to see her sign off with gold, but looking at the other things she's done in the last couple of years (e.g. taking time out to have a baby!) she hasn't done too badly has she?

I stand by my previous, apparently provocative, question about judging the effort people have put in.  Even those who 'fail' at the big events wouldn't have got there in the first place without incredible levels of dedication.  Many of we armchair athletes are far too quick to criticise.  Maybe K J-T will blossom once she's out of the shadow of Jess.  It's one hell of an act to follow.

I don't appreciate implied personal criticisms, everyone is entitled to an opinion on anything, I wouldn't criticise you for having one,  if I disagreed with it.

I've said nothing that hasn't been said by the experts, it's just a question of leaving out the emotive issues and applying a bit of common sense.

Personal criticism?????  I've have simply disagreed with a differing opinion, with no 'personal criticism' either stated or implied.  If others wish to take a different opinion as personal criticism, that's their concern.

If somebody would care to point out ANY 'implied personal criticism' in the section of my post quoted above I would love to hear it.

I am looking forward to more of Andrew Cotter in the commentary box this week.

A very  knowledgeable sportsman who doesn't twitter on.

I may be slightly biased as I taught him History for his three pre - university yearsimage
