Bloodrose, I think pansies are annuals, so I'm not sure if that will work...
Have you overfed them? Sometimes that will make the plant produce lots of foliage and not many flowers. Or they could be desperately trying to reach the light if it's too shady where they are?
Can't beat that Steve - planted a knee high black elder this year and it's eye level height already (I'm only 5'3" so ...). Bought a Buddleia in spring, cut it back and planted it and have 4 additional waist high plants from the cuttings.
And clematis montana ... was asked to water my neighbours' plants in spring and sneaked a clematis cutting whilst I was in there. When I got home I forgot about it and found it in my pocket later. Planted it up and it's taken - I've just repotted it larger.
You obviously is da bomb when it comes to this game!
All of these were in a part of the garden that I didn't know would flood or at least get very wet in the winter, roses, a flamingo salix and dogwoods are quite happy there! I was new, take pity on me!

Hi SparklesJD, its a container garden in a yard and it is in a wall basket so maybe not enough light. I feed it once a fortnight with tomatoe food. It has had loads of flowers and new ones open every day and ive enjoyed many vases so I can't complain. First year growing anything so I hope to do better with the next lot.
Perki I will have to try your technique and pinch them out if they get leggy next time, thanks for the tip

I've killed a clematis montana (how I hear you cry!), had a black elder resolutely sit there are snuff it and even had a buddlea croak on me.
Beat that!

Pride comes before a call. I once treated a Garrya Elliptica James Roof with Rose Black Spot Spray because it had black spots on its leaves.
It got rid of the black spots ...and the rest of the plant I'd tended for three years! I was gutted.

Yeah hate that when you plant out too early!
Delphinium and parsley for sure - planted out before I went to bed....stalks the next morning, not really my fault, slugs.
How can anyone kill a buddleia??? Even railway tracks and brick walls can grow them :-)
Noooooo I don't like it much. Maybe a dwarf one in a pot.
I can't grow Daphnes, I have one that is doing ok, all the others decided to curl up and die. Expensive mistakes
