I dream of a cottage-style border of Lupins, Delphiniums and Sweet-peas... but it's slug-Nirvana in my garden so anything like those has be grown in pots.
Well I haven't killed anything yet but I don't think the pansy I grew from seed turned out quite right. A tad leggy and currently held up with string If I cut it down by half will it survive?
Aym - that's what I'm talking about - I've heard people bemoaning them as out-of-control weeds! I can't grow them either!
Or poppies, B3 and PP.
Rach - I have the same problem, I've given up on cottage garden borders now I had packs of petunias that were sticks overnight.
Verbana's another one for me. I got two full grown plants in June (my seeds just didn't do anything). They've got so unhappy (i.e. dead-looking) that I'm debating just cutting them down to see if they grow back. I see them everywhere round here.

Clematis really hate me and leaves always brown or the earwigs/slugs/snails get to them first.

Aspidistras. Mother and friend have magnificent plants and always give me lovely chunks of it. They just curl up and die.
