  • That's so effectively expressed, Artemis!  Mass migrations don't happen to irritate the "host" populations but for reasons of survival.

Unfortunately, though many from desperate regions of the world are trying to enter Britain, a worrying number of our young adults, educated, skilled and qualified, are leaving home, fearing the economic disaster that comes with Brexit; especially the sort the patE-riots espouse.  It's not such a secret, of course.  The government's own leaked report, mentioned by Sam last night, puts it in black and white.  It's not to our advantage.

    A Dead Statesman

I could not dig: I dared not rob:

Therefore I lied to please the mob.

Now all my lies are proved untrue

And I must face the men I slew.

What tale shall serve me here among

    Mine angry and defrauded young?

Any pictures of these "defrauding" polititians would be superfluous, I think.

    Kipling can be so moving!

  • Such a sunless, depressing day!  Absolute Hades!

I phoned a friend for a chat.  She suggested a cup of coffee nearby.

I got there at the right time, though I know "time" is just a word to her. image

Waited and waited and I was about to leave when she appeared serene, smiling and lovely and just about remembered to apologise for her lateness!   She's the loveliest of companies but rather annoying!

Hades is the right word for it, but without even an asphadel meadow! image

As for the friend, I know such people can be infuriating but, at least, she's also lovely in other ways.  image

The day has been very unpleasant here too.  No asphodels either! image

I have never been able to understand why some people, however lovely in other ways, imagine it's acceptable to be late.  Next time it happens, Danae, I suggest you send her this to.. gently remind her you're still WAITING!

For me, however, Suffolk is, and will always be, Constable Country.  I love the Arcadian beauty of his work! image

I thought, today, it was time I paid another visit to the wonderful Hay Wain.  It was as thrilling as ever!

What a lovely treat, Danae!  Thank you.

Needless to say I'm a real lover of The Hay Wain, though I'd probably agree, that The Fighting
    Temeraire is...quite good too! image
