We have 3 different regular bird visitors at the moment that are all missing their tail feathers. A male blackbird, a juvenile magpie and a pigeon. Strange.

Female blackbird has been preparing another nest all day today.  Gathering and carrying huge beakfuls of grasses and other nesting materials, so large she had serious trouble flying! :D

We had an amazing display of Swift's, swallows and house martins, they were catching the millions of small flies that we are swarmed out with. There were hundreds diving into the clouds of flies over and over only about 15ft of the ground. This went on all evening. I couldn't get a picture as they are too small. It was something I've never seen before

Despite the rain we still have the clouds of midges and flies, apparently this is happening everywhere. Clearly the Swift's, swallows and house martins love it as they were back this evening with there amazing display. We think the flies are getting trapped within the boundaries of 3 large gardens by big trees and there just sitting ducks for the birds

  •  Can't wait for them to get started on the aphids. They love my bronze fennel.

Here is my new pond!  Small, and still trying to get aquatic plants for it.  Only wildlife so far are fat little black beetles, but early days yet.
