Great spot @pansyface, I’ve never seen one but I’d say it’s a lesser redpoll as common redpoles aren’t that common 🙂. Very jealous it’s on your feeder, I only get sparrows 😂.

Nice one @pansyface, always a joy to see.

We're still getting a fairly regular visit by the Goldcrest who seems to like the suet balls. I was worried after all that snow but I guess they take that in their stride.

Ah, I haven’t seen a goldcrest round here for several years.

And the cuckoo cucked his last about five years ago.
I rarely see goldcrests but I hear them a lot. Apparently their song is such a high pitch that people lose the ability to hear them as they get older and it's believed that they're under recorded because many bird surveyors are older.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Spadgers are my favourite birds, I think. Always cheerful. 🙂

  • I think one of my nesting boxes may be being used by two pairs of tits. I watched yesterday as first one arrived and went inside. Then a second one arrived and join him/her inside. A third one arrived and went to go inside, saw it already had two occupants and flew away very rapidly.

The big female sparrowhawk has just been sitting on top of the seed feeder. I haven't seen her all year so I was getting worried but she's looking in top condition and very nicely coloured now. B)

Gorgeous photo @steephill. Great when you get the catchlight in the eye.
