I’ve just finished this, it’s a gift for a friend who loves reading and has lots of books. It’s my first attempt at a proper embroidery satin stitch, I’m really pleased with it. I will definitely be making more.
@rowlandscastle444, if you have the shakes, try paints of some sort but without the precision. Watercolour isn't easy but it can come up with some amazing effects (intentional or otherwise). Google 'watercolour abstract' images, for example. And don't be put off if it doesn't work straight away, just have fun and see what happens.
Thank you for the ideas, @NormandyLiz I limit my painting to fence panels, the shed, and walls. I can't make too much of a mess with those. Well, not entirely!!
@NormandyLiz. I absolutely agree with you, some fantastic effects with watercolours,I like to do greetings cards in WC. Though I have had some of my A4 efforts framed, but find in the long run it's more costly than a canvas. OH did some framing for me,but there's nothing like an expert at that job😉 @Rubee. That's definitely art! I love your ideas and the way they are carried out.
What a lovely craft thread this is to peruse on a wet non gardening day.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Can I just add, that if your water colours don't go to plan, you are able to gently wash off what you've done under the tap, dry the paper and start again. Assuming you use proper WC paper. Also try"lifting" any mistakes. With a clean damp brush. Frank Clarke is a good place to start,he can teach anyone to be a watercolourist.

Not sure the ones on my left ankle and foot will disappear. Metal plate and 11 pins holding things together.
Ol' hopalong!! 🙃
Failure is always an option.
I bought OH a T shirt with that phrase. According to number two son he officially has a library; the two of them counted one Sunday afternoon. 🤣
