How do you manage for scissors on the plane @chicky ? I thought of taking some sewing to do while we waited at the airport between checking in and boarding, but I thought I couldn't bring scissors in hand luggage
The sheep’s coats are lots of French knots with varying numbers of wraps and 4 different shades of cream. Very therapeutic 😵
Needles are ok on a plane, and so are scissors with blades less than 6 cm. However didn’t want to risk it (I’d cry if they confiscated any of my scissors- I’m a bit attached to all of them) so I used a nifty little thread cutter which has a concealed blade …..it’s about the size of a 50p
Oh Chicky it’s beautiful. What are the clip things you have around the hoop? they look very useful at keeping the extra fabric out of your way.
Been a while since I read this thread, loads of lovely things to look at, I really do need to be more productive now that my life is getting back to some semblance of “normal” again.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
The clip things are magnetic cable ties - very useful and double up as needle minders too. Got mine from Amazon, a selection of short and long ones in one pack.
Once when I was travelling to Canada to visit my son I saw a lady sewing pieces for a patchwork of some kind, at the time I thought, what a productive idea. She must have made quite a pile of them during the flight and waits in airport lounges.
I've had nail clippers confiscated before and no longer fly anywhere but I reckon the cutter on a tooth floss dispenser would cut thread well.
I like your sheep and snow @chicky. Where did you find the pattern? All they ones I see here, both shops and online, are terribly twee. Our patchwrok club has expanded its activities to include embroidery, crochet and knitting and we have a group of ladies who do amazing sticthes but I don't like the designs so I'm sticking to machine patch, sashiko and Swiss embroidery for now.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

How have you done the sheep's curly coats? Is it French Knots or some other method? They certainly look brilliant!
