I knitted the largest size and made it two inches longer so that the double cuff would come a lot further up the head and provide a bigger double layer of warmth.
As I think I've said before I didn't put a pompom on them because I've noticed that many of the rough sleepers like to pull their coat hood up over their woolly hats on a cold night.

Yes please @Pat E ... if you don't mind ... I might not use it myself but it's always good to have a choice of several if folk ask for one, as they sometimes do.
The yarn I used is Aran weight (sometimes called Worstead) ... which I think is slightly thicker than your 8ply ... 8ply seems to be the same as our Double Knit. I used the same size needles as in the pattern
