That is beautiful. Did you use a pattern, I would love to try that, I am certain I have more than enough yarn ( for several probably!)……..

No I didn't use a pattern but there are probably loads you can follow on youtube. I measured the bottom of a jumper that I like the fit of then divided it by 5 ( to give me ruffly the size square i wanted). I worked in strips from the bottom up rather than individual squares, that way there was less sewing together. I did 5 strips for the back and 2 each side for the front. The arms start off wider at the top but taper in at the cuff.  Then it was just about crocheting the edge ribbing to the length of the squares, not very accurate but it worked. I did keep laying on it my jumper and when it got half assembled I kept trying it on. I would do another one as it wasn't difficult. The hardest bit was deciding where to put each colour, as i didn't want any of the same colours next to each other, I would say if there had been 8 colours this would have been easier.

Very impressive Jacqui. I’m more into knitting than crochet, so it would be a different puzzle to do.

Very clever @SherwoodArrow I have great admiration for anyone who can crochet, and to do a large item of clothing is great. I think those patchwork jackets are becoming very popular.
My stash of yarn needs using might have to see if I can find something to learn on You Tube.🙄
Did you pick up crochet stitches for the ribbing?
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.

Fabulous @SherwoodArrow   It does seem that crochet garments are very much back in fashion.  Can't remember where I saw a lovely crocheted poncho.   Bravo!!!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Thank you 😊.
The ribbing is done by only crocheting in the back loops, normally you crochet through both stitch loops at the top of each stitch. By only crocheting in the back loops you leave the front loops to make the rib affect.

I always say I can knit but I am a crocheter.

I learned how to crochet by watching YouTube, nobody to judge you if you go wrong! I watched ‘Crochet with Clare’ (she started off being called bobwilson123) she is an Australian lady. I just liked how she did her videos, I know it sound silly so say about a video of someone but she is very patient and takes time to tell you everything you need to know. There are loads of crochet videos though 🙂.
