I love to see where people perform their craft "magic", I have taken over the small bedroom. I picked up an old tea trolley at a charity shop, wheels are essential ,but the top has sliding out bits too. I got a second hand office chair in perfect condition also wheels. I save lids off Pringles to put paint on,and lids from jam jars to hold turps and oil,for oil painting. Its absolute bliss to spend a few hours up there, easpecially if its raining.😊
Can you get some card close ups?
@Fire is your painted house a rock?

  • Lovely!
I really like the traditionally inspired Christmas cards. I would love a unit like that,it uses up hardly any floor space, everything beautifully labelled too.

  • PS. Is that a card cutter on the bottom shelf?

    Yes it is.
My wife has a habit of buying card cutters when replacement blades are "made of unobtainium" or just always out of stock. She's a few cutters of different sizes, some of which I get replacement blades on eBay.

Thanks for that. Those units are easy enough to make.

Just design it on a piece of paper having first found out what widths Contiplas or similar come in.
Then work out how many pieces you need. Then go back to the woodyard and get them to cut it for you (they will charge the cost of the material and usually for each cut they have to make, so you only need one cut for each piece out of a full length of material if you choose the right width).
Then carefully drill the holes necessary, countersink them, then screw it together on the floor as you would anything "flatpack."
When complete you can get little white plastic  caps to press onto the heads of the screws to give a more professional finish.

@Valley Gardener  - yes, playing with pebbles. I've ordered some acrylic paint pens to see if I can get some finer detail.
  • You should find them ideal @Fire I have to stop myself buying them as they all look so tempting.

Thankyou for that info @Doghouse Riley,I will show the pic to the handyman of the house,it sounds straightforward. Theres a window replacement place near me,where they put windowsill off cuts in a bin for people to help themselves, could be useful!😊
I just have one guillotine, which was very cheap,it never seems to blunt,I hope thats not "famous last words"😊
