Thanks @Obelixx. You should go for it. I can be quite lazy about using moisturisers and lotions when shop bought, they sit there for months, even years and feel cold and icky. But with my own made stuff you really enjoy using it, appreciate all the scents. And also I’m just making a couple of small tubs at a time and I’m using it up in weeks because I don’t want to waste my ingredients lol. I made lip balms too so will be perfect for winter. I love it, I think every gardener should make their own, give those calloused hands, feet, legs, arms a treat every night or two. All 💯 natural and organic. It’s a step up from making mud pies and then trying to make my own rose petal water when I was a child 😊
Maybe try them in pots @Fire. They are called pot marigolds after all. Also they make the most golden infused oil. Maybe good for dying too. I have to say I have loads of slugs but they don’t go after the calendula. Ive got lots though so don’t mind if some of them get pest attacked.
My daughter makes Calendula balm,it so good for so many things, from her dry skin patches to her dogs cracked paws, and for soothing chapped hands, the list is endless.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Interesting info, ladies. I’m not sure I could be bothered to try, but anything is possible with our lockdowns. I’ve lots of calendula flowering at the mo.
My wife is into decoupage card making and costume jewellery.
As she has MS, cutting out intricate designs with little pairs of scissors, helps to keep her fingers supple.
For a special card for which she has no suitable kit she'll get me to find an image on the internet and print off three copies, so she can decoupage it.
Christmas card "production" to send to friends and family began in September. Each are different and many tailored for particular recipients. For the rest of the yesr it's just birthdays and special occasions.
She has her card trolley and some storage under this craft table, I bought her,
But she prefers to use a smaller table next to her chair. The lounge here is relatively tidy. When she's in "full production" it's a lot messier.
She has another storage unit I built her in the small bedroom
Here's some of the cards she's made and some embellishments.
Some are quite detailed.
She used to do a lot of knitting for herself and the kids. Never needed a pattern, she could make it up as she went along, even Fairisle designs for the kids.
These days she'll just "knock something up" out of her head like this, for a friends' or a relatives' new baby.
DH Riley. That’s lovely to read. I’m so glad that she can keep herself occupied like that. Very clever set up for as well, Hubby.
I’m also into knitting. I recently made three pair of fingerless gloves for my friend’s grandchildren . By all accounts, the kids are very pleased with them.
